Hi I am trying to get WIFI working on a Acer Aspier E 15 E5-575-30QD
lspci shows the following with respect to WIFI: 02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros Device 0042 (rev 30) verbose output - see in bottom of mail. I am not sure which Qualcomm device it is, what I can find on the net is that the above lspci string is mentioned together with QC9377 ... so I have tried that, but would like to know if it is the correct name. It is on a fresh installed Debian 8.5 with non-free drivers from here: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/8.5.0-live+nonfree/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian-live-8.5.0-amd64-kde-desktop+nonfree.iso After installation I have upgraded it and rebooted it (don't remember if there was a new kernel) I have cloned https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware.git into /lib/firmware/ath10k and copied the bin file that I think I should use to a new file without the part after .bin sudo git clone https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware.git /lib/firmware/ath10k sudo cp -p /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0/firmware /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0/firmware-5.bin_WLAN.TF.1.0-00267-1 /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0/firmware-5.bin Reboot - no wifi module detected Added a file: /etc/modprobe.d/ath10k_core.conf with the following line: options ath10k_core skip_otp=y Reboot - no wifi module detected Any hints?
