Thanks for the help!

You're welcome!

Sid doesn't scare me, since it's based on Arch, and it's even less stable.

... Debian Sid (Still In Development) is based on Arch? That's quite new, or maybe I didn't understand your point...

May I ask which kernel

 # pierre@zenoko: ~ < 2026_08_02__17_10_50 > [bashpid_3205669 1]
uname -a
Linux zenoko 7.0.3+deb14-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 7.0.3-1 (2026-04-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux
 # pierre@zenoko: ~ < 2026_08_02__17_10_52 > [bashpid_3205669 2]

and additional drivers you installed?
modprobe i915.force_probe=7d55

I installed these packages:
  firmware-iwlwifi
  firmware-linux
  firmware-linux-nonfree
  firmware-misc-nonfree

Do WiFi and Bluetooth work properly?

Yes, no worry at all.

How's the battery life?

I don't often run on battery, last time I did I had a quite comfortable time working on the battery, something like 5 or 6 hours, I can't remember well.

All in all, it's a quite fantastic machine.

Best regards,
David

    Hello,

I also have a (relatively) recent Asus machine, a Zenbook duo, and I
didn't succeed in installing a Debian Stable; however, I
successfully installed a Debian Sid (that was in January, 2025) and
it still works like a charm today.

I was a bit frightened by the "Unstable" character of the Sid
distro, but overall, it is very far to be unstable, and it feels
like having a "rolling release" GNU/Linux, which is quite nice.

    Good luck!

    Best regards,
    Pierre

I have an ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED (M1505), and I’ve heard there
are a lot of proprietary drivers on it. For example, in the BIOS
and in Windows, before installing the drivers, the CPU heats up
to 80–90 degrees and the fans are running at full speed.

        I found this article: https://wiki.debian.org/
        InstallingDebianOn/Asus <https://wiki.debian.org/
InstallingDebianOn/Asus>. But my model isn’t listed there. What
do you recommend? Is it possible to install Debian on this machine?

        Best regards,
        David
