I am in Seattle, USA. I am wife to an attorney. I have been a Debian user for only about a year. I have used Red Hat for about 4 years. I have been a unix user (SunOS, Solaris) for about 13. I am very interested in a legal distro based on Debian.
I develop software, but I have not done FLOSS. I have been reading the project archives, but still have a lot of reading to do about Debian rules and packaging. Any hints about how best to scale the learning curve would be appreciated. But now that you have a basic distro to play with, I thought I would jump in, or at least put my toes in. However, I don't have a machine to destabilize, so I need to get one. In these days of Wal-Mart Lindows, any suggestions on how to get a reasonably-priced distro-friendly machine? Elaine
