Well, where are the definitive locations for these? The debian website contained some document that was only 2 sections long, and the only thing I could find that looked like what was referenced was /usr/share/doc/menu/menu.txt.gz. I suggest putting a more explicit reference there at the very least, although that would be a wishlist instead of minor. jack.
