Package: lintian Version: 1.23.15 Severity: wishlist I don't have time to implement this at the moment, so recording for later work.
Perl modules usually are either architecture-independent and go in /usr/share/perl5 or arch-dependent and go in /usr/lib/perl5. MakeMaker creates both directories, regardless of the type of the module. Best practice for Perl module packages is to remove the other unnecessary empty directory from the package. This should only be a warning at most since it doesn't break anything, but since it's easy enough to fix, it's a good bit of cruft to clean up. (This is probably going to catch a lot of existing packages. Maybe warning is too aggressive?) -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages lintian depends on: ii binutils 2.16.1cvs20060117-1 The GNU assembler, linker and bina ii diffstat 1.41-1 produces graph of changes introduc ii dpkg-dev 1.13.16 package building tools for Debian ii file 4.15-2 Determines file type using "magic" ii gettext 0.14.5-2 GNU Internationalization utilities ii intltool-debian 0.34.1+20050828 Help i18n of RFC822 compliant conf ii libparse-debianchang 1.0-1 parse Debian changelogs and output ii man-db 2.4.3-3 The on-line manual pager ii perl [libdigest-md5- 5.8.8-2 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction lintian recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
