Package: lintian
Version: 1.23.8
Severity: important

lintian has a hard coded path prefix for the --dist option

lintian -V
Lintian v1.23.8

lintian --allow-root --show-overrides -viI --dist
/var/local/packages/dists/custom/main
N: Setting up lab in /tmp/V7FwttCogR ...
internal error: No packages file
/dists//var/local/packages/dists/custom/main//binary-i386/Packages
internal error: cannot create binary package list

LINTIAN_DIST="/var/local/packages/dists/custom/main" lintian
--allow-root --show-overrides -viIa
N: Setting up lab in /tmp/q7kevgePYf ...
internal error: No packages file
/dists//var/local/packages/dists/custom/main//binary-i386/Packages
internal error: cannot create binary package list

ls -l /var/local/packages/dists/custom/main/binary-i386
total 72
-rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 53041 2006-08-15 00:21 Packages
-rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 15381 2006-08-15 00:21 Packages.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 78 2006-08-03 14:42 Release

lintian allways tacks on a '/dists/' prefix to the searched path and
fails.
lintian shouldn't force the end user to keep there local repository
under /dists/.
