+Info: Files in <tt>/etc/modprobe.d</tt> that do not have a <tt>.conf</tt> + suffix are no longer processed by certain (including future) versions of + module-init-tools/modprobe. Is that actually true right now? My recent experience suggests not and http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/03/msg00276.html implies it will keep accepting them (albeit noisily) for quite a while yet.
