Package: lintian Version: 2.5.3 Severity: wishlist Frequently, when packages with priority >= standard change names, both the new package and the transitional package end up with priority >= standard. For example, libsasl2 transitioned to libsasl2-2, but the former remained priority important until bug 416561. host transitioned to bind9-host, but host still has priority standard (bug 645437).
The transitional package exists only for upgrades, and need not get installed on new systems, so it can have priority optional or extra instead. Please consider detecting transitional packages with priority standard or above, and warning about them.
