The trend you see here (no pun intended) is a reaction to the logic of Debian Janitor, which—like trends.d.o—strives to analyze all kinds of things about packages. To control the explosion of classification tags, we settled on a few well-defined but also vastly more powerful tags, like trimmed-field.
