As a static analysis tool Lintian traditionally eschews tags that depend externally on the current time or date. Those tags tend to be hard to reproduce and, as a group, do not meet our stringent standards for quality control. Also, maintainers who find themselves in similar situations—possibly due to a dislike of official tools—may also not be using Lintian. Would it make more sense for 'dput' (or dupload) to issue the warning, or perhaps even for the archive to reject the upload? Kind regards Felix Lechner
