at present Lintian only emits the tag "new-package-uses-date-based-version-number" if - a date-based versioning scheme is used for the latest changelog entry and - the number of changelog entries is one. I think it would be better to emit it if - a date-based versioning scheme is used for the latest changelog entry and - the number of changelog entries with a date-based versioning scheme is one. One might also consider adapting the tag name to reflect the change of logic. The background of this request is a discussion on the security tools mailing list [0] which made me aware that the present rule set offers a loophole.
