lintian should check that dpkg-source -x && dpkg-source -b does not * add additional files * remove files * modify files Arguably it may be reasonable to parse the Perl bindings in dpkg to get the ignore list and just check that we don't ship any ignored files. Likewise it can ensure that other options like compression of the tarball matches the dpkg options for that package, i.e. archive defaults or debian/source/options.
