This patch is based on the idea I posted to debian bug #380488
This implementation exports the $USERNAME from the initramfs to the real-root fs by copying (or creating) /etc/casper.conf on the real-root fs. This patch is against the proposed "casper-1.64+debian-1 (UNRELEASED)" Alex Owen
