ftp.d.o is out of date so you should specify some alternate mirror. I think you should make sure you're using the latest sid versions of live-helper. Also casper is deprecated in Debian in favour of live-initramfs: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/debian-live-devel/2007-August/001973.html You should also make sure that the live-initramfs that make-live retrieves is from sid.
