I'd suggest adding
[url "[email protected]:"]
pushInsteadOf = git://live.debian.net/git
to your ~/.gitconfig.
See git-config(1) for details on the pushinsteadof configuration
and http://bugs.debian.org/552121 for a patch in flight to fix the
"remote end hung up" message from the server side.
