+This chapter contains a cursory overview of how to PXE boot a pre-built Debian
Live image.
+
+Download the tarball containing the netinstall pre-built image. Configure
DHCP, TFTP, and NFS servers as described in the section { Building a Netboot
Image }http://live.debian.net/manual/en/html/the-basics.html. The
#{tftpboot/}# directory contains example TFTP configuration files and the files
needed to boot with TFTP. The #{debian-live/}# directory contains everything
else and should be shared with NFS.

+The pxelinux.0 and pxelinux.cfg files in the root directory served by your
TFTP server may be may be symlinks pointing to the content of the #{tftpboot/}#
directory.
+
+Alter #{tftpboot/debian-live/i386/boot-screens/live.cfg}# boot loader config
file sot that #{nfsroot}# kernel parameter contains the IP number of your NFS
server and the appropriate path to the exported #{debian-live/}# directory.
+
+The TFTP server is responsible for delivering the boot loader and the files
necessary to display the boot loader menu. If a menu appears your TFTP server
is working properly. Note that it can take some seconds to respond after
choice of a menu item. If you get the message "connect: Connection timed out"
during the Linux boot sequence this is an indication of a problem with NFS.

available by the Debian Live project. Although accurate at the time of writing
this information is subject to change.

+Pre-built images are available for the following architectures:

+_* *{i386}*: Intel compatible x86 CPUs with a 32 bit architecture.

+_* *{amd64}*: Intel compatible x86 CPUs with a 64 bit architecture.

+Pre-built images are available which will boot from the following methods:

+_* *{bittorrent}*: ISO disk images available via bittorrent suitable for
booting from CD.

+_* *{iso}*: ISO disk images available via HTTP suitable for booting from CD.
+
+_* *{net}*: Tarballs available via HTTP with example configurations for PXE
booting using TFTP and disk images distributed with NFS.

+_* *{usb-hdd}*: Disk images suitable for booting from USB key or hard drive.

+_* *{web}*: Kernels, initial ramdisks, and disk images available via HTTP
suitable for booting from a pre-existing boot loader.

+Note that packages can be installed on any Debian Live system after boot,
although such changes may not persist over reboot, so each pre-built image is
only a starting point.
