I have found out what the problem was, I was actually PXE booting on an ISO 
image of Debian Live which was made to be burnt to a CD so actually it booted 
but didn't auto-login. I am now using the correct Debian Live network files and 
it works like a charm. 

Many thanks for you guys, you are simplyfying my life for disaster recovery!
