I am comparatively new to debian 6 and i have noticed a peculiar feature
that was not present in debians installers..

This new installer searches for local repositories and starts downloading
some updated files from local repo server.

The indian local repo server is tremendously slow and because of bandwidth
issues, installation takes quite long time! It took almost half an hour
for live installation to complete..i had to cancel it in between..!!

While the USA server is bit fast..i just wonder if we actually need to do
this process during installation..it might fetch latest files, but its
amazingly annoying process. It became more annoying when i used the regular
installer..had to wait for almost 5 hours to install gnome desktop..!!

Please tell me how to disable this useful but annoying process?
