and, jftr, there is no point in making this any more 'advanced' in any way (e.g. by supporting config/packages.chroot/>{main,contrib,non-free} or so).

local packages clearly are just a workaround for quick stuff, any sustainable project shall setup a proper repository (that >then gets included via config/archives). there you'll get the seperation and flexibility of being able to choose between >different archive areas.
