jftr, i don't really agree with the 'use local safely' one (i think we
shouldn't be using local at all and just make sure we handle variables
correctly), however, i've applied it for now since it will take a while
until local can be removed in 4.x.
i'll adapt the live-persistence one for live-tools tomorrow a bit to
match coding style and such, but other than it looks nifty, thanks again.
