Thanks. Jessie works OK today with xfce. It did not work with gnome on Nov. 3: the iso built and ran, but the result was defective in the sense that clicking on "terminal" or "root terminal" led to a whirling icon for a few seconds, and then nothing happened - no terminal window. Maybe the problem was specific to gnome, or maybe it has been fixed since Nov. 3.
