Hi, migrating to jessie, i am experiencing the same problem.
Currently live-build is broken on jessie, which distributes version 4.0.3-1 of live-build, not 4.0.4-1. It is currently not possible to build hdd images, hence it could be very nice to consider this bug as important and provide a fix to jessie.
