Control: reassign -1 base-files
Control: retitle -1 base-files Obsolete file /var/log/lastlog

Hello maintainers of base-files,

This bug report has moved between various packages, but I think that 'base-files' is now the correct location.

Could you remove the creation of the obsoleted file '/var/log/lastlog' from the postinst?

It should go away too.

I don't know who is the culprit (openssh ? pam ? ...)

I'm running an 'strace' instead a live installation. The files is part of the live image, which is copied to the HD.

I've found who writes this file: live-installer (udeb).
It appears that the file is part of the live image, so now it is back to me to remove it :-)

Also note:

Thanks for testing cruft-ng, btw!

I've found the creator of the file:

With kind regards,
Roland Clobus
