Stuck in the install

Hello,
I'm using a Trixie live image, and I'm using the installer, and I am stuck at 
the username password page, it will not advance.
I have 8 characters, one capital letter, a dash, and two numbers.
I'm using a screenreader, orca, and I don't read any error messages.
Could it matter that the word in the password is a real word?
