Dear Debian LTS users, This is a gentle reminder that Debian 11 (codename "bullseye") will reach the end of its Long Term Support (LTS) period on 31 August 2026. We encourage users to upgrade to Debian 12 (codename "bookworm"), and then, when possible, to Debian 13 (codename "trixie").
Starting in September, Debian will not provide further security updates for Debian 11. A subset of bullseye packages will be supported by external parties. Detailed information can be found at [Extended LTS]. The Debian LTS Team will then focus on bookworm, the current oldstable release, for which we took over security maintenance from the Security Team in June. Beyond supporting bookworm, we will do our best to also contribute security fixes for trixie and unstable, which remain the responsibility of the Security Team. Bookworm will receive Long Term Support until 30 June 2028, five years after its initial release. The supported architectures for bookworm LTS are 32-bit PC (i386), 64-bit PC (amd64), ARMv7 (armhf), 64-bit ARM (arm64), and 64-bit little-endian PowerPC (ppc64el). For further information about using bookworm and upgrading from bullseye LTS, please refer to [LTS/Using]. Debian and its LTS Team would like to thank all contributing users, developers and sponsors who made it possible to extend the life of previous stable releases, and who have made this LTS a success. If you rely on Debian LTS, please consider [joining the team], providing patches, testing or [funding the efforts].
