Apologies, my email client broke the threading for this thread and I didn't see the other replies from my colleagues on time. I had the chance to discuss this topic with them, let me post an update here. In the past, we had bad timing with ppc64el support when Unicamp was dismantled and we were lucky we could keep one server online at OSU-OSL, until we were able to find more systems, however the systems are loaner systems that must be renewed every year. Learning from past experiences and to be able to cover trixie-lts, DSA would like to ensure a system is available for the entire lifecycle of trixie-lts (until June 30, 2030 aprox.) or postpone the announcement and delay the decision for the ppc64el. For bookworm-lts, DSA has the same concerns as for trixie (non-lts), but given the shorter timeframe it should be more manageable.
