Dear Martin, It would be really great to have software like cytoscape in Debian! For the moment, we have posponed most of our Java work because we lack Java experts and because the GPL'ed Sun JAVA is not yet available in Debian. However, this is changing as a preliminary wrapper has been uploaded to the NEW queue: http://ftp-master.debian.org/new/icedtea-java7_7~b24-1.5-2.html I strongly suggest that you consider using it for building a Debian package. For the technical help about Java, honestly I think that you will find more on a specialised list such as http://lists.debian.org/debian-java/. But feel free to keep us CCed, we have much to learn! Also for the sponsoring and the package hosting (you want to keep the debian directory in a SVN repository, don't you ?), I guess that you can count on us.
