Last time I looked as SSAHA (years ago), It had difficulties to compile with recent GCC. SSAHA2 is recommended instead but depends on non-free software… http://bugs.debian.org/425111 The SSAHA source is still there, but what we need is a fork or a patch. And committment to keep it working with later releases of GCC !
