Dear all,
We want to select a software for managing our clinic. We prefer
opensource softwares, and we have discovered debian-med. We want to
know how we can install it on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS 64bits or Debian 6.

Just to clarify. Debian-med is a collection of software products packaged for
installation on Debian. Debian-med is not a single software.

Inside the Debian-med project you will find a number of software packages that
might suit your needs.

In principle the software packaged for Debian inside Debian-med can be made to
run in Ubuntu. This might require some work.

Why? I always understood Debian Med to support both kinds of UNIXes, Debian
_and_ Ubuntu.
There may be difficulties with finding a more recent version of a particular
software with an older release like Lucid in this case, but
 * this also holds for Squeeze (Deban 6) when the package is not also in
backports.debian.org (ask for it, then)
* in analogy to the gnumed-ppa there is also debian-ppa that we can just fill with whatever is of interest for you or (preferably) help you to close that gap for yourself and everyone else - it is not magic.

Sebastian, when there are issues, please raise them.

Best,

Steffen
