Hi Steffen, If you are also interested in Galaxy, I know Brad Chapman did lot of work on integrating a LIMS with Galaxy - I'm not sure if that has all been merged into the Galaxy trunk or not - but I am sure Brad would be happy to comment if you get in touch.
