I now realised that the Debian version is shamelessly and needlessly behind your upstream version. The cause for this is unfortunately that you do not provide the source in a tarball that contains the version number of the source. Debian has automatic tools to detect version changes at the download page of some software and these are rising a "new upstream version available" alarm. However, these tools are relying on the something like a file name so for instance you should name your source like GENtle-1.9.3.tar.gz or something like this. If you would follow this suggestion you have pretty good chances that Debian and Ubuntu will follow your release cycle reasonably close.
