Hi Andreas, Below are two patches, one for the error you have hit and another for a typical -Wformat warning this package is sure to hit when built for Debian.
Incidentally, I found that upstream chose to discards a building user CXXFLAGS, which will flag a lintian warning (it's a concern to poke upstream about, along with forwarding my patches to them).
