Hi again, I just uploaded a fixed abyss to stretch backports:
abyss_2.1.5-7~bpo9+1_amd64.changes ACCEPTED into stretch-backports So I guess the issue is fixed in Debian. I have no idea what might be the most straightforward way to install it on Ubuntu - may be downloading from https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/abyss (make sure you wait until abyss_2.1.5-7~bpo9+1 is available there - the page is not yet updated at the time of writing!) and installing manually on an Ubuntu system might work (but its not tested since I have no easy access to an Ubuntu machine).
