Hi,
if you ask me we should stop discussing with non-corporate upstream. If
your patch works for us (at least for 64bit) we should go on and upload
with the patch.

Thanks @emollier! We still don't support any other versions of Python besides
Python 3.6. When we add support for newer versions of Python we will review
these patches then.
