I'm more leaning towards bringing it under the Python Team but I can also co-maintain python-awkward with Sascha under the Med Team if the med team doesn't want to move it to DPT.
I started packaging this during a Debian Med Sprint last year (IIRC) as a dependency for another package but then noticed that apparently the required functionality there needed Apache Arrow, which was not packaged yet either and looked a bit too heavy for me to tackle, given my current workload in my day job. I think someone wanted to give it another shot recently though.
Please feel free to adopt this package. I don't have plans for/with it at the moment.
