Hi all,

I noticed the autoremoval message about emboss-explorer, and before
attempted to fix the issue, I just checked if the package still works,
as I have not used for a decade or more…

It turns out that it is broken: after installing it, visiting
http://localhost/emboss-explorer leads to Not Found errors in the
two served frames. This is probably fixable, but if nobody has
reported the problem until now, it suggests that nobody is using
the package, isn't it? Indeed, its popcon vote score is very
close to zero.

I admit that I have no idea of how much of a security issue it is when
emboss-explorer is installed on a machine, as it automatically serves
the pages to other machines on the same network, but frankly speaking, I
am much more scared by this now than in 2007 when we created the
package…

I wonder if it is better to remove the package from Debian now?

Have a nice Sunday!

Charles
