Debian has long had a tradition that once a package was installed it was fully functioning.



It is fully functioning. That particular plugin, and in fact all plugins are disabled by default. But Till, I think, a pop-up message should be created for the "Now Listening" plugin which tells the user that they need xmms or noatun installed.
