At this point, I wonder if trying to wrangle asciidoc into working is a good
use of our time, if it's deprecated and going to be removed soon.
Long term I will try to migrate to asciidoctor as suggested. However I
found another relevant debian bug that can be solved by depending on
docbook-xsl

This allows this package to be built in build environments which do
not allow general network access (xsltproc was not able to resolve xsl
for docbook locally so was retrieving them from the Internet).
