My understanding of Debian policies is that yes, this is too late for trixie without an exception. I think for consistency, the Debian Release team would not want to give an exception for this case, this late in the Freeze. I assume the package could easily be allowed into trixie-backports, but that is different than changing Debian GNOME's default font. I am not working on this package currently as I have other priorities. And I don't believe anyone else is working on it either. I have uploaded other NEW packages to experimental and then to unstable during the Freeze (like paper-clip) and I don't think that causes any problems. Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
