Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,
hello Simon,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "libunistring":

 * Package name     : libunistring
   Version          : 1.4.2-1
   Upstream contact : Bruno Haible <[email protected]>
 * URL              : https://www.gnu.org/software/libunistring/
 * License          : GPL-3+, FSFULLR, BSD-3-clause or LGPL-3+, FSFUL,
                      ISC or LGPL-2.1+, GFDL-1.2+ or GPL-3+ or LGPL-3,
                      LGPL-3, GPL, FSFULLR or GPL-2+, and Libtool-
                      exception, public-domain, GPL-2+, LGPL-2+,
                      GPL-2+ with Libtool exception,
                      LGPL-2+ or LGPL-3+, LGPL-2.1+, Unicode-DFS-2016,
                      FSFAP, LGPL-3+, BSD-3-clause or LGPL-2.1+, X11,
                      GFDL-1.3+
 * Vcs              : https://git.jff.email/cgit/libunistring.git
   Section          : libs

The source builds the following binary packages:

  libunistring-dev - Unicode string library for C - development files
  libunistring5 - Unicode string library for C

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/libunistring/

Alternatively, you can download the package with 'dget' using this
command:

 dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libu/libunistring/libunistring_1.4.2-1.dsc

or from

 git https://git.jff.email/cgit/libunistring.git/?h=release%2Fdebian%2F1.4.2-1

Changes since the last upload:

 libunistring (1.4.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * New upstrem release (Closes: #1129359).
     - Refresh debian/libunistring5.symbols.
   * debian/copyright:
     - Fix old FSF address.
     - Remove superfluous file pattern.
     - Refresh to make lrc happy.
       + Add debian/lrc.config.
     - Add year 2026 to myself.
   * debian/control:
     - Remove redundant Rules-Requires-Root field.
     - Remove redundant priority field.
   * Declare compliance with Debian Policy 4.7.3.0 (No changes needed).

Thank you!  Uploaded.

Some suggestions:

- Consider debian/watch v5

- Consider adding debian/upstream/metadata

- Consider adding debian/tests/

- Consider moving to https://salsa.debian.org/debian/libunistring
  - do you have a salsa username?

- Consider adding me as co-Uploader

- Consider DEP14 debian/gbp.conf branch layouts

- Consider building from upstream git instead of tarball, to simplify
  debian/copyright and avoid generated/vendored files.  Requires a
  Build-Depends on gnulib and re-work of debian/rules; I'm happy to help
  with that if you want to look into it.

- Consider tag2upload. Would lose the ability to ship *.orig.*.asc
  file, but the previous suggestion to move to git as source code is
  also incompatible with *.orig.*asc, so the two ideas combine well.

- investigate lintian complaint:
P: libunistring source: license-problem-gfdl-non-official-text invariant part
is: with no invariant sections, with no front-cover text, and with no
back-cover texts [doc/libunistring.texi]

/Simon
