order of libraries on command line

        Hi,
        I am having problems  linking.
        When linking with g77, The order in static libraries appear on the
command line can cause the linker to not find a symbol.  It seems that the
order of routines in a library can also cause the problem.  Linking with
the individual object files , does not cause the problem.
        Does this make any sense ?  Is there anything I can do to remedy
the situation ?
