I ran across a text document the other day that is distributed under the GPL, with the exception that it may not be published in print form without the authors' permission. Is this still DFSG-free? They allow for people to sell it on CD/disk, for example. It also allows distribution of derived works under the same license. So, it definitely fits points 2-10 of the DFSG, and seems to support point 1:
The license of a Debian component may not restrict any party from selling or giving away the software as a component of an aggregate software distribution containing programs from several different sources. The license may not require a royalty or other fee for such sale. Since any electronic versions of the document are fully under the conditions of the GPL. I've seen a number of manuals and such under similar licenses (although not explicitly as GPL + exception). What do you guys think? Is it DFSG-Free? Yours, ed boraas ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
