IMO, debian/ in upstream is not a good idea unless *you* are > the author.
Well, in this case, the author is a good friend of mine and has been for over 10 years. He recently put up the sources at sourceforge and I have write-access. I'm thinking inclusion might be good. I'm not sure about .orig.tar.gz or plain .tar.gz uploads to Debian though (and I didn't think of the Debian version number issue until Peter Karlsson bought it up). I suppose I could upload as .tar.gz with no Debian version sub-number if I know the build to be clean (no diffs). In the unlikely event that I later need to patch it for Debian only (say during a freeze), then I can do the second upload as Debian version -1 and includes sources as .orig.tar.gz Sound good?
