Hi, Goswin. Thank you very much for your reply. On Nov 24 2005, Goswin von Brederlow wrote: > I haven't used vrms in a long time so I can't remmeber how extensive > it was. I'm sorry if this is already implemented.
It was (and still is) not much comprehensive, but it will slowly gain functions according to my plans. > I would like to have vrms not only report what non-free software is > installed but also suggests free alternatives (if not already > installed). Nice. I already received some nice suggestions from Joost van Baal and this is exactly the kind of feedback that I was looking for. I will also change Debian GNU/Linux to Debian-based systems in the description as it is obviously platform independent and can be used by Debian/Hurd, as Joost correctly pointed me privately. I have also seen that Ubuntu incorporated the package (with some slight modifications that I committed already). I expect the list to grow, as the package gains functionality and users report more non-free software. And yes, I do intend to implement a way of knowing the contrib packages on your system, but let's get this version that fixes a RC-bug into the repository first. > Maybe even include news/changelog updates on new versions of those (in > case they finaly implement some missing feature). The aim of the Debian project would be to have as much Free Software as possible and I think that with proper recommendations, vrms can be a good guide on that front. Thank you very much for your replies. Again, it was exactly the kind of feedback that I was looking for.
