apt-get build-dep sure did did the trick.
Note you may want to build the package with dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot
Or even investigate on pbuilder.
As I'm trying to produce a diff / file a bug report rather then upload
a .deb, dpkg-buildpackage is not relevant to me, never the less thank
you for the tip.
P.S. I gather that dh_builddeb is used internally by the build system
and trying to invoke it on the source was wrong? (It didn't worked)
