Many thanks to both of you for your replies. I actually kind of knew (or feared) the answer of the question before asking it, but I wanted to be sure... I will go on trying to get in touch with the authors to clarify this, but I strongly doubt it will be effective. Otherwise, maybe I can wrap another existing, free MPEG2 codec in an interface similar to mpeg2vidcodec, so that it can be used by ImageMagick to handle MPEG2 videos... Thanks again, François
