Actually, I'm following up on both lists. The binary package looks fine from my point of view, but I would appreciate if someone from the -mentors crowd could actually test it (don't worry, even if the source is big, it compiles really quickly). Apart from the above note about the copyright file, I think this package is good for unstable.
