Maybe you could fix it to not use gtkdialog? 
By reading http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=543945 it
loosk like gtkdialog is dead upstream, so it should just be let alone.

I guess the zenity package is what gtk people uses nowadays.

In kde land, there is kdialog.
