Annotations can also be used to modify the rendition of the audiovisual document, thus providing virtual montage, captioning, navigation... capabilities. Users can exchange their comments/analyses in the form of Advene packages, independently from the video itself. I am the main author of this (pygtk + gstreamer based) software. I use Debian as the main development platform. I have been building my own .deb packages since the beginning of the project and would really like to make it more easily available to end users.
