I'll second the vote for finding a sponsor for mangler. I've used it quite a bit in Vinux, and there seem to be quite a few mangler fans in the blind community.
I've been told there is a scramble in Debian land right now to finish the next release, so this is probably why I'm seeing several accessibility related packages go by without seeming to find a sponsor.
